About Us

About Music is a passion project created in order to track sales. Our main goal is to have the sales of every song and album, and to be as accurate as possible.

The most important part for us was that we wanted everyone to take part in this, as we can’t track the sales of every record by ourselves. We wanted everyone to have the option to add their favorite artists, and edit their sales (with credible sources).

We wanted our data to be accessible and engaging, to make the best experience for fans who want to track sales. So we created different pages, like ‘Best Selling Artists’, ‘Best Selling Albums’ and ‘Best Selling Songs’, in order to make it easier for you to track sales, and use the charts.

Being transparent is something that is also essential for us, so we wanted to share the formula that we use in order to track the estimated sales. The formula is subject to change, and is going through changes to make the sales as accurate as possible.

Unfortunately, not every data is accessible, for example: Apple Music, Deezer and other streaming platforms, don’t reveal their streaming numbers. So we have to make estimations in order to track the sales. That’s why all the sales are based on estimations, and it’s important for us to clarify this.

The sales contain physical sales, digital sales and streaming (SPS - sales plus streaming).

Physical and digital sales of album: 1:1

When a user makes an edit, we try our best to approve the request as soon as possible, usually within a few hours, as we have to check the sources.

• Every song includes all the versions and remixes that the song has, that’s why some sales streaming numbers are bigger than usual.
• To see an album's total units, it has to include all the songs that belong to that album, since the album formula relies on singles sales as well. If a song is missing, it will result in lower and inaccurate album units. You can add songs that are missing at any time.
• Available digital sales from China are included in songs and albums.
• Views from QQ Music are being gradually added to songs and albums.
• The formula is something that can always change, and we are still working on it. Please let us know if you have any suggestions.
